BIOGRAPHY
Colter Schoenfish (they/them) is a Brooklyn based director of theatre and opera. Their practice blends dramatic minimalism with romantic softness in search of honest life onstage. Select directing credits include: Cendrillon and The Tender Land with Chicago Summer Opera, SCENEWORKS with Mannes Opera, Mozart and Salieri with Opera Saratoga, Orpheus and Euridice with Arbor Opera Theatre, and two world-premiere productions for the University of Michigan – Higher Ground and Enchantress. As a sought-after freelance artist, Colter has frequented companies across the country like Santa Fe Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Houston Grand Opera, Detroit Opera, Utah Opera, Opera Theatre of St Louis, Des Moines Metro Opera, Tulsa Opera, and Opera Saratoga. With a passion for artistic training, they have guest taught and directed students at universities and young artist programs such as Utah Opera, Mannes Opera, University of Houston, University of Michigan, and Chicago Summer Opera. Colter is a proud alumnus of the theatre directing program at the University of Michigan.
